Overview

Our Approach to Wound Care

At NM Stem Cell, we may combine therapies such as ozone therapy, Human Cellular Tissue (HCT) products, PRP therapy, and red light therapy as part of a comprehensive wound-care plan. These approaches are intended to support the local healing environment and the body's own tissue-repair processes rather than to replace individualized clinical care.

Each wound is evaluated individually, and treatment is tailored to your specific situation. Our goal is a thoughtful, non-surgical approach that prepares the wound bed, manages the wound environment, and supports healing over time. Results vary from patient to patient, and not every therapy is appropriate for every wound.

Advanced Wound Care

Advanced Wound Matrices & Collagen Patches

For patients with chronic or difficult-to-heal wounds, we may incorporate advanced wound matrices and collagen-based dressings into a comprehensive wound-care treatment plan.

These products are designed to create a supportive environment for the body's natural wound-healing process. Depending on the specific product and wound, advanced wound matrices may provide a structural scaffold, help manage moisture and the wound environment, and support granulation and epithelialization.

We use these products as part of a comprehensive approach rather than as a stand-alone treatment. Each wound is evaluated individually, and treatment may also include wound-bed preparation, debridement when appropriate, infection assessment and management, specialized dressings, off-loading or compression when indicated, nutritional support, and other regenerative therapies.

Every wound is different. Each wound is evaluated individually, and not every treatment or product is appropriate for every patient. Your plan is determined after a thorough evaluation of your wound and overall health.

Candidates for Treatment

What Types of Wounds May Benefit?

Depending on the individual patient and wound, advanced wound-care products may be considered for:

Diabetic foot ulcers
Venous leg ulcers
Pressure injuries
Chronic non-healing wounds
Traumatic wounds
Difficult-to-heal surgical wounds
Wounds that have stalled despite conventional treatment
What We Use

Categories of Advanced Wound Products

The specific product we choose depends on the wound type, its stage, and your individual needs. Below are examples of the categories of advanced products we may use as part of a comprehensive plan.

Collagen Matrices used in advanced wound care

Collagen Matrices

Scaffold-style products that provide temporary structure to the wound bed and are intended to support granulation and new tissue formation as the wound heals.

Collagen-Based Dressings used in advanced wound care

Collagen-Based Dressings

Dressings that help manage moisture and the wound environment while supporting the body's natural repair processes, often used on wounds that have stalled.

Protective Wound Coverings used in advanced wound care

Protective Wound Coverings

Advanced coverings selected to protect the wound, help maintain an optimal healing environment, and work alongside off-loading, compression, or specialized dressings when indicated.

Specific product names and photos of the matrices we currently use will be added here. Product selection is always individualized to the wound and the patient.

Research & Evidence

The Research Behind Advanced Collagen Wound Care

There is published research behind collagen-based wound dressings. The summaries below are provided for patients who want to learn more and are not a promise of any particular result.

Meta-analysis of 11 randomized controlled trials

A meta-analysis of 11 randomized controlled trials involving 961 patients found that adding a collagen dressing to standard wound care was associated with a higher rate of complete wound healing than standard care alone (relative risk of healing 1.53). The authors also noted that additional larger studies are still needed.

Systematic review of ORC/collagen dressings

A systematic review and meta-analysis of oxidized regenerated cellulose/collagen dressings across multiple wound types found statistically significant improvements in both wound closure and the percentage reduction in wound area compared with standard dressings.

Research describes outcomes across groups of patients in clinical studies. Individual results vary, and no specific outcome is promised or guaranteed.

Our Philosophy

Our Wound Care Philosophy

We don't believe in simply placing a patch on a wound and expecting it to heal. Advanced wound matrices and collagen products are one part of a comprehensive program -- combined with careful evaluation, wound-bed preparation, infection management, specialized dressings, off-loading or compression when needed, nutritional support, and ongoing follow-up. Our goal is to treat the whole picture, not just the wound.

Expert Care

Clinical Wound Management

Every wound receives personalized attention from our medical team. From proper debridement and dressing to the application of regenerative biologics, we follow evidence-based protocols to create the optimal healing environment for even the most stubborn wounds.
